The career of Gerry Corbett spans 40 years, 30 of which have been in public relations, advertising and branding and 10 years as an engineer and programmer. The diversity of that experience includes both public and private companies, business-to-consumer and business-to-business environments and in a range of industries from aerospace and computers to defense and science. Gerry's experience has included many interesting challenges in crisis communications, interest group advocacy, mergers and acquisitions, speech writing, employee motivation, investor relations, call center operations and pioneering new markets. He worked closely with some 17 CEOs, whose backgrounds have spanned finance, engineering, marketing and law. Gerry has a solid track record in the area of media relations, having long had excellent relationships with key business and financial media. He also served as chief spokesperson for Hitachi in North America for more than 12 years in both new product launches, acquisitions, crisis management and executive transitions. The breadth of capabilities also includes being at the front line in new product introductions, such as when Hitachi entered the notebook market in 1995, pioneered the flat screen display category in 1996, launched the storage business in 1998, and the created the largest proton beam therapy center in 2003, among other notable technologies.
